Window: 3 photos per second

I recorded 3 photos per second with my Nikon D80 and then brought the photos into Final Cut Pro and set each photo to display for a duration of 1 second. Then I put a dissolve between each.

That's how I created this effect that you can watch on Vimeo.

Starting to play with depth of field.

For some reason, the D80 has a much more straightforward way of using the manual Aperature and Shutter settings.

I've had some kind of mental block with the Digital Rebel at using the manual settings. I think it might be easier to get started with manual settings on the D80 thatn on the Digital Rebel. I'm going to have to go back and take another look and see what the actual difference is.

My friend Sonia gave her photography students an assignment to go out and shoot a portrait of light.

I thought that was challenging so I took this.

Spring is here and these croci made a nice shot. I enhanced this one a little with iPhoto. Once you start using iPhoto to tweak your photos, it's hard to stop.

The D80 has a nice and compact 18-135mm lens. Much lighter than the Canon 70-200mm lens. I'd be much more inclined to carry the D80 around with it's telephoto than the Canon.

Interesting.

This is the first picture I took with the Nikon D80.

I've been a Canon camera person for a long time. I've had a Canon S400 and a Digital Rebel. I figured there was no reason to change brands in mid stream.

I'm intrigued by the Nikon N80. I wouldn't have decided to try it out myself, but Nikon sent me this one to evaluate.

Just because they sent me this camera doesn't mean I won't say negative things against it. I'll just be honest and transparent in my thoughts.

OK, here's a negative. The manual explains how to push two buttons to format the memory card. That wasn't working for me. After pressing those buttons a few times I figured out that the memory card came pre-formatted.

The first thing that stands out is the nice sound of the shutter. Sweet.

I'll have to go back and listen when my Digital Rebel takes a picture.
